Correction Required to Charity Run Poster Prior to Posting
We have discovered that the Charity Run Posters have a critical error on them that must be corrected prior to posting.

Sorry for this inconvenience.
BILL 11 Efforts with Lanark and North Frontenac
Fellow club member Gord Moffatt of sponsoring dealer "LAKE & TRAIL" and I continue to meet with the County and Municipalities of Lanark in our attempts to gain legal access by ATV's to the public roads. We believe we are making progress but we do not have anything definite to report at this time.
As far as North Frontenac is concerned, no progress can be reported. They are sitting back and seeing what other townships are doing. I continue to feed them information whenever another area passes laws enabling ATV's to legally use the roads. I will keep working on them.
Financials
Our financial position is looking quite solid at this point. All dealers who committed to sponsoring the club have now made their payments. We have also brought on additional sponsors that we not originally planned for. Add to this the proceeds of our very successful GPS course and the sale of club apparel and maps and we now have over $1,000 in the bank.
Offer for Free Subscription to ATV World Magazine
Recently a new Ontario based ATV magazine has hit the stands. It is called ATV WORLD MAGAZINE. I was contacted by the publishers of the magazine. They offered to provide a free subscription to any OVATVC club member who requested it. I have received the first two issues and reviewed them for content before I made their offer know. I wanted to ensure the magazine was actually an independent entity and not a shill for a hidden trail organization. I am now satisfied of the independent nature of the magazine. Note that the EOTA and our club are identified in the second issue as active Ontario based ATV organizations.
If you are interested in getting a free subscription to ATV WORLD, please send in your name and address to mblakoe@bellnet.ca or atvworldmagazine@bellnet.ca and you will be signed up right away. Please let them know you are a member of the OVATVC and that I (Michael) forwarded this offer to you.
It has been my experience with other "free" magazine offers that, after a period of time (usually six months to one year), you are given the choice of starting to pay for your subscription to the magazine or ceasing to get the mag. It is entirely your choice at that point.
Please be clear that no one has been provided with the names, addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, etc. of any club member. It is entirely up to you whether or not you follow up on this offer.
OVERNIGHT RUN a Big Success!!!
The "North-West Passage" overnight run to Bancroft and back took place this past weekend, June 12th and 13th. Thirteen club members participated and all said they had a great time.
With Rick Walker's expert leading of the pack, we made it safety both to and from Bancroft.
For those of you keeping count, the type of bikes on the ride were as follows:
1 - Kawi
1 - Suzuki
1 - Artco
1 - Yami
1 - Bomber
2 - Polari
6 - Hondas
All the bikes held up perfectly. Unfortunately, that cannot be said for the tires on those bikes. We had one major blowout on Sunday morning which set us back three hours on the return trip. Luckily we were ably helped out at "Barney's Do-All" on the Hasting's Trail outside of Bancroft. Without Barney we still might be admiring the wildlife of Ontario.
After eating at a good Italian restuarant in Bancroft (Vito's), we returned to the motel before turning in for the evening.
Speaking of wildlife, we saw numerous deer, rabits and at least 15 snapping turtles. The turtles picked Sunday morning to lay their eggs in the middle of the trail. Don't worry, we stopped and gently relocated them so they wouldn't get run over.
An interesting moment was when the group was approached at a gas station by an OPP officer 60kms outside of Bancroft. His only concern was whether all the bikes had licenses which they did. The officer was very helpful in assisting us in plotting out a quicker way home which was required due to the previously mentioned tire problem.
The run went over so well that we will probably organize another overnight run for mid/late September. Stay tuned for further announcements.
Finally, in closing, I would be remise if I didn't mention my getting royally stuck in a mud hole just before we got back to Ompah. Suffice it to say that several pictures were taken that will probably make the rounds eventually.
PLANNING FOR NEXT OVERNIGHT RUN UNDERWAY!!
Since the first Overnight Run was such a resounding success, we are planning on holding another in September. We are currently looking for suggestions as to destinations and routes.
The tentative dates for the run are the weekend of September 18th and 19th. Stay tuned and don't miss this fun and challenging event.
July 10th Fun Run Fun
Another club fun run took place this past Saturday, July 10th under sunny skies. Five riders with four bikes rode for 5 1/2 hours and over 80 kilometers of mixed trails.
One of the riders experienced a tear in their sidewall which made for an interesting run back to the club house. What is it with OEM tires? Oh well!
We hope to see you on the next club fun run on July 24th for our quarterly trail maintenance run. It really is very little work and a whole lot of riding fun.
Where to Pick Up Your EOTA Pass
The EOTA passes have now been received. These passes must be picked up in person by the member since you have to sign for them. Otherwise we would just mail them out to you but unfortunately that is not possible.
To make it easier for you to pick up your pass (which you have already paid for as part of your membership dues), we have set up four different locations as follows.
Carp/Rural Kanata (Michael Pastor, 839-1692)
Rockland (Rick Walker, 833-1545)
Kars (Rich Heslip, 489-2274)
Smiths Falls (Dan & Dave Murphy, 284-2390)
Prior to going to any of the pick-up locations, please call ahead first to ensure we are there when you arrive
Trail Map Waypoint Correction
There has been an error reported on the Trail Map. All of the waypoints listed show the signs at 77 Deg, X Minutes West when in fact most are 76 Deg, X Minutes West (some are still 77 Deg W). It turns out there was a rounding error when the numbers were exported from the mapping software and then imported into Excel.
This has been corrected and here are the updates:
10A: 76WPlease correct your maps with a permanent marker. The sign location on the map is correct, just the waypoint list was in error.
Sorry for any inconvenience
Finally...
If anyone has any questions, comments, suggestions or are willing to help out in any way with the running of the club, please contact me.
