Ottawa Valley All Terrain Vehicle Club Newsletter
October 2005
The OVATVC’s annual general meeting will be held on October 19. Agenda is below. Please come out and vote for your next executive!
There was a special general club meeting held on Sept 7 to address several issues that had been raised over the past few months. A brief summary:
The executive did quite an extensive search for the club’s bylaws that should specify what is required for a financial audit. Essentially the club has no bylaws so a priority of the new exec is to create them – the official guidelines for how the club is to be run. These will be ratified by the membership.
Due to the expense of hiring an accounting firm, the membership voted to appoint an audit committee to look at the books and report to the club at the AGM. The committee is headed by Mike Deveraux, assisted by Dan Daoust and Dan Vorano.
Members have reported that some of our trail signs are disappearing and it’s hard to navigate using the trail signs. There were some good suggestions for improving the trail signage but we concluded its best to wait till next spring to work on that project.
The club will probably have to find an alternate insurance supplier next year. There are some issues with our current coverage through the EOTA.
The club held it’s fifth annual run in support of Camp Trillium on Sept 10. This was by far the largest and most successful event held to date with over 100 bikes participating. Total raised was $7,642.25, some of which will be donated to Community Living in North Frontenac. Thank you for an outstanding job by event chairperson Patsy Bradley and her organization committee – Mike Deveraux, Chuck Dupuis, Dan Murphy and Gary Munro. A big thank you is also due to Patsy’s parents for hosting the event, the event sponsors, the folks that helped out along the way and to the many club members and guests who came out to make the event such a success!
A film crew from Dirt Trax TV showed up at the Charity Run to document the event. As far as we know our episode will air Tuesday October 11 at 8:30pm on Outdoor Life Network. Their web site says it will air on October 18, so we’re not 100% sure…
The OVATVC’s AGM is coming up on Wed October 19 at the 7 West Motel in Carleton Place, 7pm.
