News

Ottawa Valley ATV Club News August 2008

Wow what a summer that never was. Rain, rain and more rain but that didn’t dampen the spirit of club members who braved monster mosquitoes and voracious deer flies. Those brave enough were rewarded with great trail riding.

Once again the issue of ATV’s on roads in Lanark Highlands Township has been raised. A group of dedicated local Highlands residents are presenting to council Thursday August 21 2008 at 6PM. The council chambers are located at 75 George Street Lanark Ontario. A link to a map of the location is including in the posting on the OVATVC Forum . Residents of Lanark Highlands it’s time to tell your council you want safe responsible ATV riding legalised on your roads.

Our charity run for Camp trillium is fast approaching. We still need volunteers for ride leaders and general help around ride HQ. If you can help out please let one of the executive know. The ride will be held Saturday September 13 2008. Please download the pledge form and start rounding up some pledges !

Our annual general meeting will be held Wednesday October 15 2008 @ 7pm at the Carleton Place Arena meeting room. The annual report on finances and club activity will be presented followed by elections for the club executive. The meeting is open to club members in good standing.

Ottawa Valley ATV Club News May 2008

Dan Murphy lead the group on May 24 and apparently got mud on his new Kawi. From reports the navigation was better: "we thought we knew where we were all day long !!!". We have pictures... .

John Carty lead the May 3 run. Sounds like it was great day in spite of a few little navigation issues. Lorie Carty wrote a run report . John also supplied pictures .

It sounds like the ink is finally dry on an agreement between OFATV and EOTA on a joint trail use agreement. This has increased the trail available to Premium Members of OVATVC from 1800km to 2800km ! More details to follow.

Ottawa Valley ATV Club News April 2008

The first run of the year took place April 19 and by all accounts it was a great day. Anthony Tsoukanas has written the membership an excellent report on the day's adventure. John Carty supplied some pictures . You can see Anthony's new bike stuck in the snow - ha ha !

The OVATVC was at the Spring Fishing Show at the Carp fairgrounds April 11-13. The show was very busy on saturday (maybe because of the crappy weather) and lots of people stopped by to chat with us. We sold eleven new memberships at the show and got a lot of positive exposure. Thanks to Dave Armour for inviting us to be in the show and the club members who volunteered their time to make the event a success !

Please note that the fun run which was scheduled for April 26 will now take place on Saturday May 3.

Check this out - Rick Walker found a website with free topographic maps. They also have downloadable apps so you can your cellphone as a GPS ! This stuff is really cool...
